Touche Village is located in the southeast of Hongyanxi Town, Longshan County, with about 1,500 people from six natural villages under its jurisdiction. It has been selected as one of the fifth batch of traditional Chinese villages and a demonstration village for beautiful countryside in Xiangxi Prefecture.
Due to the fact that villagers irrigate fields with river water in front of their homes, and the fields are often higher than the river surface, they can only rely on self-made bamboo tube waterwheels to fetch water. Therefore, there were bamboo tube waterwheels on both sides of the river that rotate day and night.
Visiting the ancient Dazigou village is a beautiful experience. The village is surrounded by mountains on three sides. A vast area of tung oil trees cover the mountains and fields, and over 70 Tujia stilted buildings are nestled against the green mountains. The rice fields in front of the village shine under the autumn sun, and the antique wind and rain bridge spans the clear river, forming a picturesque landscape painting.
The stilted buildings still maintain the architectural styles of the Qing Dynasty. The stone mills and mortars abandoned in the corners of the courtyard seem to tell the ancient stories of the village.
In addition, there are also many magnificent views. The “Nine Locks” scenic spot located on Jiufeng Mountain looks like a chain of nine locks, giving people an incredible feeling. In the village, you can also experience recreational activities such as grass skiing and drifting. At night, you can stay at the Dazizhai Homestay Inn, listen to folk songs, and enjoy the moon.
